Barrow AFC are delighted to announce the signing of winger Chris Humphrey on loan from Bury until the end of the season.
The 30 year old has been capped at international level with Jamaica and brings with him a wealth of experience with a CV full of teams in the Football League and Scottish Premier League.
Having spent his youth career at Wasall and West Brom, Chris was spotted in a reserve team game against Shrewsbury Town who were eager to secure his services. He went on to make over 70 appearances for the Shrews, scoring twice. Notable appearances for them in his time there were two play off finals at Wembley, unfortunately ending in defeats to Bristol Rovers and Gillingham.
Despite being offered a new contract at New Meadow, Humphrey was announced as Motherwell’s second signing of the summer in July 2009. He made his debut for them towards the end of the month in the second round of the Europa league. Chris ultimately played over 130 times for Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League, scoring 8 times.
Motherwell were keen to secure his services beyond the end of the 2012/13 season but Preston North End came calling and he signed a three year deal with the Deepdale side at the start if June 2013 despite interest from other clubs including Rangers. He played frequently for PNE, appearing over 100 times and scoring seven goals over two seasons, helping them win promotion from League One to the Championship in the 2014/15 season.
Humphrey left Preston in December 2016 and returned to Scottish football with Hibernian. He had a debut to remember, assisting two of three goals in a 3-0 win over Dundee United. After six appearances at Easter Road, Humphrey left at the end of the 2016/17 season, signing a one year deal at Bury in June 2017.
Chris is eligible for tomorrows second round FA Trophy tie at Brackley Town. Kick off is 3pm at St James Park and the Bluebirds Trust are running a supporters coach to the game. Details HERE.
