This is a chance for children between the ages of 5-11 to improve their technical ability in a positive and challenging environment. The Junior Bluebird course will be delivered by Barrow AFC performance centre coaches who are fully qualified level 2 coaches or higher. It will mirror the philosophy and the training curriculum in which the Barrow AFC performance centre players follow throughout the season.

Barrow AFC Junior Bluebirds exists to give every child the very best start in football we believe that a player’s technique and technical development is the most important aspect of football. Every skill or component in football requires a great deal of technique. We believe that football should be played by creative players who are able to execute the technical aspects of the game with ease and consistency. We believe that players should have the tools and experiences required to make the correct decisions and take responsibility in games thus helping them to stand out from the other players. Only hard work, effort, determination and practice will help players to improve, and we are very confident of producing excellent footballers regardless of experience alongside high quality coaching. All we ask for is an excellent attitude from all players to their training sessions.

During each Junior Bluebird session we also carry out an assessment of the progress of each player using our specially designed SoccAsess skills challenges. Each player carries out a range of challenges which assesses their individual dribbling, passing, turning and control skills. At the end of each programme each player receives a report on their progress which is compared against their previous scores.
