The Bluebirds made a great start to a pivotal 3 games in 8 days spell against Solihull Moors.
Barrow started the game strong with Livesey and Diarra both seeing headers fail to trouble the Moors keeper Baxter. On the 13 minute mark Meikle pounced on a wayward pass by Solihull giving the ball to Williams who fired just wide of the post.
Barrow opened the scoring in the 25th minute when a long throw into the Moors area caused Baxter to parry a Diarra header before Jordan Williams ensured the ball found its way into the net. Barrow got a second just a minute later when a tame effort by Bennett was parried out by Baxter straight into the path of Williams who doubled the Bluebird’s advantage. Barrow continued to press and just two minutes later a Turnbull corner was met by Hughes who made it 3-0.
Barrow continued to pile pressure onto the Solihull goal and stayed on top of the match. Solihull saw their first chance from a free-kick cannon off the Barrow bar.
Ten minutes after half time Barrow were awarded a penalty as Hughes was brought down by a sloppy challenge from a Solihull defender. Bennett stepped up and put the ball into the bottom right-hand corner to put the game to bed.
A small amount of complacency crept into the Bluebirds game as Green broke away from the Barrow defence and rifled the ball into the far corner in the 65th minute. A piece of sloppy play by the Bluebirds saw Solihull grab another as Afolayan’s deflected shot beat Flatt.
In the 88th minute Anderton received a second yellow for an innocuous challenge on the Moors.
The Bluebird’s remain 8th but a point closer to the play-offs with 7 left to play.
